An Overview of the Development of the Civil Aviation Sector in Turkey

Parallel to the rapid advances in aviation in the world, Turkey; It has risen to an important position in the international arena in civil aviation with the records broken in aircraft traffic and number of passengers, airport investments that set an example to the world, developments in the domestic and international flight network, and regulations made on flight safety and aviation security. Despite all the negativities experienced in 2016, Turkey, which continues to be talked about all over the world with its breakthroughs and projects by evaluating the potential, opportunities and risks it carries, offers the comfort of aviation to the world and its country quickly and safely by providing quality service with its existing state and private enterprises. It can be said that Turkey, which has bilateral aviation agreements with 168 countries, is one of the countries with the largest flight network in the world. Turkey, which succeeded to become the ICAO Council Member, which determines the international aviation rules in 2016, is among the countries that contribute to flight safety and aviation safety at the international level. The success of Turkish Airlines, which is Turkey's national airline company and also its most valuable brand, is an indicator of the importance given to civil aviation in the country. It is thought that the 3rd Airport investment, which will make Turkey a center in terms of aviation in the world, will make Turkey stronger in its region and will also provide significant advantages in the context of international strategy as well as economic returns. In this context, the aim of this study is to summarize Turkey's experience in civil aviation and present it in the light of current data. In addition, it is aimed to raise awareness about these issues by bringing up the issues that will make Turkey a leader in its region and a voice in the world.
